A non-hierarchical locality.

The "New England Orogen (NEO) is a tectonic collage comprising numerous terranes which amalgamated, accreted and interacted with the margin of Gondwana during late Paleozoic-early Mesozoic time. It extends over approximately 1300 km along the eastern margin of Australia from Bowen (20°5) in Queensland to Newcastle (33°5) in NSW. All rocks in the orogen are deformed to some extent (oroclines), however, this deformation does not necessarily ...[mean] a singular orogenic cycle".

Description: Occurs as higher-z patches and "wisps" in abundant Na-dominant mangano-mangani-ungarettiite. Although not included in the EPMA analysis included here, a small amount of Li may be present (~0.1 to ~0.2 wt% Li2O). This addition would optimize the site occupancies, is consistent with Li incorporation into alkali-rich amphiboles, and can be presumed present in the local assemblage as indicated by the identification of nambulite at the locality. In addition to the listed elements, minor amounts of Ni, Sr and F were measured (<0.05 wt%).
