Qaarsut coal mine; Qaarsuarsuit coal mine
An historical graphite mine, in operation 1854-1862. Located near the settlement of Qaarsut at the northerneastern shore of the Nuussuaq Peninsula.
The first graphite mine in Greenland operated between 1778 and 1924 in Qaarsuarsuit. The graphite is derived from metamorphosed coal.
