Wilson prospect (Agua Sal drilling permit site), Round Rock, Apache Co., Arizona, USAi
|Regional Level Types|
|Wilson prospect (Agua Sal drilling permit site)||Prospect|
An U occurrence/prospect located about 17.1 km (10.6 miles) SSE of Round Rock, along the E bank of Agua Sal Creek. The geographic coordinates provided are very approximate to a point about midway along the course of Agua Sal Creek.
NOTE: The reference states this locality is in approximate sec. 17, T8N, R9W. If this refers to the G&SRM then it is incorrect since R9W is very far W of Apache County. If it is a mistake for R9E, that would place it nowhere near Agua Sal Creek. It can not be the Navajo Meridian either.
Mineralization is an U deposit containing yellow (secondary) U minerals associated with a zone of mudstone galls and splits at the base of the Shinarump channel at 40 feet deep, atop DeChelly Sandstone. A small monocline occurs nearby.
Workings include 20 exploratory holes drilled to an average depth of 60 feet in 1956.
