A former small underground Ag-Pb-Zn-Cu-Au (Sb-As) occurrence/mine located on 11 unpatented claims, in South-central (center of SΒ½) sec. 32, T22S, R11E (protracted), in the NW side of the town of Ruby, on National Forest land. Produced 1914-1922. Owned by Mrs. Rita M. Sheehy (1964). Owned/operated at times, or in part, by the North Star Mining & Development Co. Operated by the Arivaca Mining Co., Austin, Texas (1964).
Mineralization is a lensing quartz-fissure vein, containing disseminated sulfides and sulfosalts, cutting Cretaceous conglomerate and sandy, limy, and silty sediments. Structure is prominent NE-trending mineralized zone croppings along a large fault plane. Intrusive Laramide diorite porphyry present. The host rock unit is the Oro Blanco Formation. Alteration is pyritization and gossan.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a shaft and tunnel operations.
Produced intermittently from the early 1910's through 1968. Production amounted to some 6,800 tons of ore averaging about 3 oz. Ag/ton, 2% Pb, 1% Zn, 0.3% Cu and minor Au.
