Metabasic rocks are characterised by the growth of lawsonite during the last stages of the prograde tectonometamorphic evolution. Lawsonite statically overgrows the prograde foliation (S1) marked by the shape preferred orientation of amphibole + zoisite + garnet. The cm-sized lozenge-shaped lawsonite porphyroblasts are pseudomorphically replaced, by aggregates of kyanite + omphacite and successively by aggregates of paragonite + albite. These assemblages occur within the lawsonite microsites at different P-T conditions: the first defines the high pressure – break-down, occurring at the end of the prograde path; the second occurs at lower pressures and develops during the retrograde path, accomplished at slightly increased temperatures.
