A W occurrence/claim/prospect, located in the SW¼ sec. 4 & in sec. 8, T29N, R18W, G&SRM, 20 miles SW of Pierce Ferry, on federal recreation area land. Owned & operated by the Esperanza Mining Corporation (1955). Operated during the period 1954-1955. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 500 meters.

Mineralization is a W deposit hosted in Neoproterozoic hornblendite. The ore body strikes N80W and dips 30SW at a width of 0.3 meter and a length of 152.4 meters. Ore concentrations occur where vertical fractures striking N85E intersect in the veinlet, which strikes N80W and dips 30SW, with a vertical joint set, N5E. local rocks include Early Proterozoic metamorphic rocks.

Local geology includes layered amphibolite & biotite schist. Some quartz-carbonate-pyrite-albite (?) veinlets to 8 cm thick. A skarn-like amphibolite associated with quartz pods or stringers as much as 18 cm thick. Pegmatoid gneiss also occurs in cross-cutting dike as much as 8 cm thick which strikes N30W & dips 25SW.

Workings include surface a small prospect pit 1 meter deep and a main open trench 6 meters in diameter, none of the few pits are more than 10 feet deep.
