A former small surface and underground Ag-Au-Cu-Pb-Zn mine located in North-central sec. 8, T.22S., R.10E, 3 miles S of Arivaca. Produced prior to 1900 and 1934-1939. Operated at times, or in part, by Wesley W. Cates; Carter; and, A.D. Anderson.
Mineralization is oxidized and weathered, irregular quartz-fissure veins with spotty base metal sulfides, cutting metamorphosed Cretaceous sedimentary formations. An associated rock unit is granite.
Workings include shaft and open cut operations. Probably worked prior to 1900 and 1934-1939. Produced some 100 or more tons of ore averaging about 0.5 oz. Au/T and 2 oz. Ag/T, 0.3% Cu and 3% Pb. The zinc was not recovered.
