Structure: The Zuni Mtns Are An Elongate Nw Trending Dome With A Core Of Precambrian Rocks. Ene To Ne Trending Faults Near Nw Trending Major Faults.
Tectonics: Colorado Plateau
Deposit: Fluorspar occurs in fissure veins in a brecciated shear zone in precambrian gneissic granite. The vertical main vein strikes N 55 e; a branching vein strikes N 72 e. Fluorite is dense to medium crystalline and white to pale green where it occurs in stringers. Where the zone widens to a maximum of 5 ft, fluorite occurs As pale green and purple, medium grained cementing material for breccia fragments.
