8,800 tons of fluorospar production make this the largest fluorospar mine in Catron County.

Tectonics: Basin And Range

Deposit: Orebodies range in thickness from 3 to 20 ft, and average 10 ft; mine is on 16 unpatented claims known As the little whitewater group. Eastern margin of mineralized zone lies within the gila wilderness area. ; info.src : 1 pub lit

Development: Usbm drilled 74 perc. Holes in 1947; ira young drilled 30 core holes in 1972; louisiana land and exploration co. Drilled two shallow perc. Holes near portal in 1974.

Geology: Area around mine is described As being hydrothermally altered, but type not given; green, white, and purple coarse (some fine) crystalline fluorite occurs as both replacement of fault breccia and rhyolite dike rock, and as open-space filling.
