Caldera di Sacrofano, Città metropolitana di Roma Capitale (Provincia di Roma), Lazio, Italia
The caldera of the Sacrofano eruptive centre is a large depression with a diameter of about 4500 metres, located about 25 km to the north of Rome and surrounded by the towns of Campagnano di Roma, Formello, and Sacrofano. It is part of the Sabatini volcanic complex.
The tuff-cone of Monte Razzano represents the boundary between the Sacrofano and Baccano calderas.
Well-known mineral localities are three mounts on the rim of the Sacrofano caldera: Monte Solforoso in the northeast, Monte Cavalluccio and Monte Tozzo in the north. Fosso Attici is a N-NNE trending radial depression, developed between the two mounts but externally to the caldera (municipal territory of Magliano Romano). Valle Biachella is a small valley, located internally to the caldera, west of Monte Solforoso.
