A gemstone and specimen mine in pegmatite located in the northern part of the Oriental Pegmatite Province of Minas Gerais. The pegmatite measures 400m in length and an average thickness of 30 m, has a N_S strike and dips 70° W.
The pegmatite was found in 1991. The largest of three pockets (est.: 10 x 15 meters) produced abundant, quality rubellite crystals and masses, flooding the local markets. Wholesale lots of a ton or more of elbaite/rubellite were offered on the market.
