A general location of native copper deposits lies west of Blue Ridge summit. One of several copper localities in the Adams County area. Native copper in epidotic rhyolite, massive quartz and associated secondary copper minerals. The copper deposits in the Adams County region had been a subject of speculators since the mid- to late-19th century. Despite the presence of native copper, hopes of developing a viable copper mining industry here proved time and again to be uneconomical due to the nature of these deposits and their associated geology.
