The Brecksville Reservation Chippewa Creek occurrences is a series of outcrops that are exposed along the Chippewa Creek in Brecksville, Cuyahoga County. The rocks exposed at the outcrops are the Cleveland Shale Member, the Chagrin Shale Member, the Ohio Shale and the Berea Sandstone. All the units are Devonian.
Harry Connors (1974, p. 110) documented that effloresces of gypsum and hexahydrite were observed at Brecksville Reservation along the outcrops in Chippewa Creek. The efflorescences of gypsum were documented on both the shales and sandstones, but hexahydrite was only observed on the Berea Sandstone.
Ernest Carlson (1991) revisited the site and found an outcrop about Β½ mile east of the Ohio Route 82 bridge crossing. This outcrop revealed granular masses of sphalerite with baryte in veins of pyrite nodules from the Chagrin Shale Member and the Ohio Shale Member.
