Tuscarawas County is a county in eastern Ohio. It was founded on March 15, 1808. The origin of the name is debatable, but it was either named for the Tuscarawas Native American tribe or the Tuscarawas River. Tuscarawas means “open mouth river” in that language. The county seat is New Philadelphia.
