Minerals are found in ejecta of different lithologies (pyroxene-, biotite- and melilite-rich metamorphosed rocks, calcite and dolomite marbles, sanidinite, etc.) within the pyroclastic rocks of Albano crater. Zeolitization of some ejecta and of the embedding tuff has been observed.
Guarinite and other minerals have been found in sanidinite ejecta of the IV Hydromagmatic Unit of the Albano lake crater (Gianfagna et al., 1988; other authors). An interesting find of richterite, fluoborite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and minor native lead has been reported from calcite marble ejecta exposed by excavations for the construction of the new bypass road near the Albano Laziale hospital (Caponera et al., 2003). Artinite, hydromagnesite, and periclase have been later described from other calcareous ejecta (Caponera et al., 2004; Pucci, 2008).
