Potash mine located to the north of Monte Pasquasìa and to the east of River Morello, at an elevation of 440 m, in the municipal territory of Enna.

The mine exploited the ENE-WSW trending ore deposit, attaining 8 km in length and 3 km in width, consisting of one sylvite-carnallite layer and five mineable kainite layers separated by halite layers of various thickness. The thickest of the kainite layers was the second, with an avarage thickness of 30-35 m. Bischofite zones and kiserite nodules are typically contained in the carnallite mineralisation.

The mine was in operation for the first time from 1919 to 1931. It was reopened in 1959 and ceased operations in 1992. After reopening the mine exploited a layer of sylvite and carnallite and later the deeper layers of kainite. The average production capacity of kainite reached about 1 Mt/a.

Halite crystals from this locality are mentioned in Palache et al. (1951), although the authors used the more general toponym Castrogiovanni. Blue to violet zones in crystalline halite, associated with sylvite, are typical at this mine.
