Alteration: Volcanics Silicified, Kaolinized, & Brecciated Near Orebodies
Deposit: Magnetite localized along shear zones in colvanics the area of iron ore deposits extends from canyon bottom up the east side of the canyon for over 1000 feet in vertical elevation. Ground magnetics was used to map the deposit by e. L. Stephenson-geophysicist in 1951 ; info.src : 1 pub lit
Deposit type: Volcanic-hosted magnetite
Development: Area of iron ore deposits extends up east side of canyon for 1000 ft. In elevation change. Ground magnetics was used to map the deposit, by e. L. Stephenson in 1951.
Geology: Magnetite localized along shear zones that strike n65e, dip 75n in andesite and latite tuff. The iron was probably derived from deuterically alterred lower cret. Plutonic rock, and transported As hydrothermal fluids. (muffler, l. J.). Most of exposed rock is a brecciated tuff cemented and partially replaced by magnetite. Principal iron mineralization probably related to that at the barth & modarelli deposits.
Rock formation(s): Frenchie Creek Rhyolite And Andesite
Ore(s): Discontinuous Silicified Shear Zones
