Area del Passo della Futa - Passo della Raticosa, Firenzuola, CittΓ  metropolitana di Firenze (Provincia di Firenze), Toscana, Italia


Outcrops of ophiolitic rocks in the montainous area between Futa Pass (Passo della Futa, 903 m a.s.l.) and Raticosa Pass (Passo della Raticosa, 968 m a.s.l.) to the west of the Regional Road SR 65 (the former State Road SS 65), in the upper valley of Santerno River. Well-known occurrences are Monte Beni, Colle del Covigliaio and Sasso di Castro.


Note: the origin of the hyaline datolite crystals often indicated in mineral collections as from Futa Pass or Futa Pass quarry is Sasso di Castro (Sasso di Castro quarry).
