Oxford pegmatite field. This locality was listed by Robinson (1825)who said: "Amethyst, crystallized and amorphous; beautiful. One crystal was found, eight and a half inches in diameter, perfectly terminated, very transparent, and fine color. (E. L. Hamlin.)" This specimen was apparently found as a "float" crystal, probably transported by glacial action from the amethyst areas immediately to the northwest. No subsequent discoveries known.
