GPS coordinates are currently provisionally set to the village of the same name.

A tourmaline-bearing pegmatite near a village of the same name, close to An Phu, located in the Yen Bai province of northern Vietnam.

Tourmaline specimens from this mine recovered in 2004-2006 are reported to be elbaite (Huong et al 2012). Liddicoatite (sensu lato) and rossmanite are also reported. Ruby and spinel specimens are not from Minh Tien, but from marbles at the nearby village of An Phu.

(Note that specimens from here have been sold in the past under the wrong locality name "Yuang Yang" or "Yueng Yang", which is a town across the border in China.)

'Liddicoatite' ?
Formula: Ca(Li2Al)Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3(OH)
Description: According to Russo & Escaut (2006) Dr. Pezzotta has analyzed pale red to pastelred colored tourmaline from one pocket found in 2004 and found these to be Ca-rich and consist of liddicoatite (bright pastelred areas) and darker core of elbaite. Later chemical analyses did not find any tourmaline of liddicoatite composition. It is not known if the analysis where made of samples from the 2004 or the 2005 pockets. However new analysis are needed to establish correct species according to the new nomenclature of the tourmaline supergrop.
