Abandoned granophyre quarry near Laghetto di Cavagnano (also known as Torbiera di Cavagnano).

Miarolitic cavities in granophyric granite can contain REE carbonates, Sc silicates, gadolinite-group minerals, etc.

An analysis has been performed on a well-formed euhedral crystal of a gadolinite-group mineral, having the core rooted in K-feldspar on the wall of a small miarolitic cavity (Pezzotta et al., 1999). The analysed crystal appears strongly zoned, with a darker core and a translucent white rim: gadolinite is present in the core, where ΣREE prevails over Y and Nd is the dominant element; the intermediate zone consists of hingganite-(Y) and gadolinite-(Y), the peripheral zone of hingganite-(Y).
