A former lode Cu-Zn-Pb occurrence/mine located in sec. 28, T5N, R10E, MDM, 2.1 km (1.3 miles) SW of Waters Peak (coordinates of record) (10 miles SW of Ione), on private land. Owned by the East Bay Municipal Utility District, Oakland, California (Pardee Reservoir land).MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in metavolcanic rock. Disseminated sulfides occur in sheared, meta-volcanic rock intruded by quartz porphyry. Local alteration includes sericitization, silicification and pyritization. Local rocks include Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California).
Local geologic structures include 3 types of faults: 1) E-dipping, high-angle strike faults; 2) low-angle, reverse faults that strike N50W-N and dip 25 to 50E; 3) high-angle faults that strike NE. Folds with amplitudes of 1 to 6 feet plunge 78-84N. Most are overturned with axial planes dipping eastward.
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 76.2 meters. Developed by cuts and 1 shaft 250 feet deep with levels at 40, 200, 240 feet. The 40 foot level consists of a 210 foot crosscut E and 30 feet W of the shaft. The 240 foot level has a crosscut and drift that extends about 700 feet NW.
No production was recorded.
