A former placer Au mine located in sec. 4 & in the NW¼NW¼ sec. 9, T24N, R5E, MDM, 1.8 km (5,800 feet) S of Table Mountain (coordinates of record), near the Plumas County line, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit hosted in auriferous gravels. The gold recovered from the Snow Gravel Mine, on granite, seems to have been derived largely from the slates about gravel range. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 17 (Cascade Range).
