A former lode Au mine located in the E½ (estimated) sec. 28, T4N, R12E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.9 mile) NNE of Kentucky House and 2.8 km (9,100 feet/2 miles) SSE of San Andreas (by state highway 49), on private (patented) land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in rocks of the Mariposa Formation (schist, slate). The ore body strikes NW and dips 75NE at a width of 15.24 meters. The vein has a slate hanging wall and a schist footwall. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 9.14 meters and comprised of a 30 foot deep shaft.
