A drift placer Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 3, T5N, R13E, MDM, about 4.5 km (2 miles) S of Railroad Flat, along Jack Nelson Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a placer Au deposit hosted in loose slate and some blue gravel which is said to be a side or bench channel of the main Blue Channel (paleochannel), beneath 60 feet of rhyolite lava. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 70 foot deep, single-compartment shaft. A crew of 3 men was prospecting the deposit in 1936.
