A former Au-Pb-Ag-Cu mine located in the SE¼ sec. 17, T4N, R12E, MDM, 1.1 km (3,300 feet/0.7 mile) E of San Andreas. Active prior to the 1890's, and during the periods 1890's to 1900, and 1914-1915; prospecting work done during the period 1922 to the 1930's; operated intermittently. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in schist. The ore body strikes NW and dips 70W at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The country rocks are complexly folded. Black slate, talc schist hornblende, limestone and garnetiferous white schist are present. There are 4 veins on the property with parallel strike. The West vein is 120 feet W of the main shaft. The Main vein has the main shaft sunk on it. The remaining two veins are the Hanging Wall vein and the East vein, which crop out 270 feet E of the main shaft. The East and West veins are the richest. The West vein is approximately 4 feet thick and the East vein is a blet of quartz stringers 20 feet thick. The ore contains other sulfides with hessite and petzite. Some rich gold specimens were recovered from the Main vein. Local rocks include Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada Foothills).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 213.36 meters. The surface was sluiced and the n developed by a 120 foot shaft. Then, 300 feet S, a 750 foot inclined shaft on the Main vein was sunk with levels at 100, 200, 300, 400 and 700 feet plus several thousand feet of drifts and crosscuts. There are up to 3,200 feet of workings on the 300 level, mainly to S of the shaft.

Ore values range from $3 to $27 (period values).
