A former lode Au-Pb mine located in sec. 12, T3N, R13E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) SSE of Soapstone Hill (coordinates of record), along French Gulch (2 miles SW of Murphys). Property consisted of an unpatented claim. Operated in the 1890's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes W and dips N at a thickness of 0.46 meter. Vein quartz is blue and bounded. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 100 foot adit.
