A former lode Au mine located 1.6 km (1.0 mile) SE of Glencoe, on private (patented) land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
NOTE: This mine is specifically named by Clark (1970a) as a significant mine in the Rich Gulch District. It is at the extreme NE boundary of the that district. Conflicting with these data, Clark (1970a) presents a map of the West Point and Railroad Flat Districts on page 129. On this map, this mine and several others to its SW are listed as in the latter districts.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist and slate. There is a rich ore shoot. The vein is 4 feet thick and badly broken. Both the footwall and the hanging wall are slate (Logan, 1936). Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 85.34 meters and compriswed of a 280 foot deep shaft with levels at 100 and 140 feet.
Production data are found in: Logan (1936).
No other production record found. The broken vein and an abundance of water made mining operations difficult.
