A reported Cu occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ sec. 2, T3N, R13E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) W of Soapstone Hill (coordinates of record) (N of San Domingo Creek; near Macaroni Flat) MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Copper was reported by local residents to have been produced here, probably before 1908. No published records are available. Plotted in the SW¼NE¼ of the section on map GP-561).
Mineralization is a vein deposit, thought to be an extension of the Carlton vein. Vein averages 4 feet in thickness. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a caved shaft.
