A Cr occurrence/prospect located in sec. 7, T8N, R10E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) SSE of Brandon Corner, along Big Canyon Creek (3½ miles E of Latrobe), on private land. Operated by W. J. Varozza. Operated in 1917 and in 1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings comprised of several small trenches and an open cut 55 feet long, 3 feet wide and 2 or 3 feet deep, and bulldozer scrapings.
Work in 1942 consisted of scraping by bulldozer to determine the extent of the deposit. A few tons of ore were shipped for testing in 1942 and proved too low of a grade to warrant further mining. About 30 tons of ore are on the dump and estimated reserves are about 200 tons.
