A former talc-soapstone occurrence/mine located in secs. 9 & 10, T8N, R9E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) N of Latrobe, E of Latrobe Creek and the railroad, on private land. Owned by the Bryant Ranch. Operated by the Industrial Minerals and Chemical Company, Berkeley, California (1954). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Pl. 10 shows sec. 9 only.
Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Small amounts of soapstone were mined in 1954 for use as an insecticide carrier.
