A former lode Au mine located in the NE¼NW¼ sec. 27, T12N, R10E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) NNE of Garden Valley, on the E side of Manhattan Creek, on the divide between Manhattan Creek and Empire Creek, on private land. The claim comprised 40 acres. Operated by Daniel Gellermann. Operated intermittently during the period 1930 to 1939. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. This mine is in the seam belt just N of the split in the Mother Lode Belt at Garden Valley. The deposit is on the same belt of amphibolite schist that contains the Alpine and Black Oak Mines.

Mineralization is a seam & veins deposit on the Seam Belt. The ore body is 3.66 meters wide and 182.88 meters long. The deposit is a seam deposit, later a vein deposit of veins in amphibolite schist. The vein, seam belt, consists of 4 parallel systems of veins and stringers parallel to the seam zone. Dimensions provided are given for the seam belt (600 feet long by 12 feet wide).
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall length of 53.34 meters and an overall width of 15.24 meters. The mine was initially developed by hydraulicking with a pit 40 feet deep, then by adit with 2 drift adits and 2 shafts at 200 and 300 feet deep, with drifts and raises. A mill was erected in 1930 and the property was worked intermittently until 1939. The open pit is 175 feet long, 50 feet wide and 40 feet deep.

The average Au recovery for the 4 years prior to 1938 was $5.00 (period values) per ton.
