A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in the NW¼ sec. 10, T10N, R11E, MDM, 0.4 km (0.2 mile/1,300 feet) NNE of Smithflat, on private land. Land holdings were 134 acres. Operated by Charles Fossetti. Operated prior to 1890, during the 1890's and from 1918 to 1932. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Reference shows the Toll House in the S½NE¼ and the Hook and Ladder in the W½SE¼.
Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Tertiary nonmarine rocks, undivided.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 152 foot shaft, raises, and several thousand feet of drifts.
A sample taken during the latest operations ran $19.50 (period values) per cubic yard (Au at $20.67 per ounce).
