A former Ag-Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼ sec. 25, T27S, R33E, MDM, along the lower W canyon wall of Erskine Creek, S of Laura Peak, on private (patented) land within a National Forest area. The property comprises 40 acres. Owned by the Coulston estate, Pasadena, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist and granite. The ore body is 1.22 meters thick. The vein is 6 inches to 4 feet (15 cm to 1.22 meters) thick. The hanging wall is schist and the footwall is granite. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include underground openings. The mine has been developed by 2 tunnels, the upper being 250 feet long and the lower, that is 60 feet below, has been driven 525 feet. A 50 foot winze was sunk about 250 feet from the portal of the lower tunnel. An ore shoot above this winze was stoped between tunnels for a length of 50 feet.
Production data are found in: Miller, William John and Webb, R.W. (1940).
Several shipments of ore were made to Hooper's mill at Miracle Hot Springs in addition to the ore milled on property.
Analytical data results: Ore on the dump was said to run $30 (period values)/ton (1914).
