A former lode Au occurrence/prospect/mine located in sec. 16, T9N, R13W, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) SE of Willow Springs Butte (coordinates of record) and 9.2 km (5.7 miles) W of Rosamond on the southern margin of Willow Springs Butte at the Willow Springs Raceway (1.5 miles W of Tropico). The property comprises 610 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rhyolite. The ore body strikes E-W and dips 60S at a thickness of 1.83 meters. The vein is 4 to 6 feet thick and carries quartz as a gangue. Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits and/or Tertiary nonmarine rocks, undivided.
Workings include underground openings comprised of 5 shafts and approximately 1,000 feet of drifts and crosscuts.
