A Au-Pb prospect located in secs. 26 & 35, T27S, R40E, MDM, about 8.3 km SSE of Ridgecrest, SE of Cerro Coso Junior College, on private (patented) land. The property is comprised of 6 claims, of which 3 are patented and 3 are held by location. Owned by the Red Wing Mining and Milling Company (1949- ). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes N10W and dips 40SW at a thickness of 0.91 meter. The vein is a few inches to 3 feet in thickness. The vein filling consists of quartz and decomposed country rock. Where it is mineralized, it contains hard iron oxide. Gangue minerals include quartz, iron oxide & pyrite.
The granitic rock is cut by fine-grained, basic dikes. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 180 foot shaft and a 50 foot drift.
