A former lode Au mine located in sec. 26, T4S, R18E, MDM, 1.4 km (4,700 feet) E of Colorado (5 miles N of Mariposa), on private (patented) land. Operated in 1924 and in the period 1937-1939. Operated by John Wildt. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit with a vein that averages 2½ feet thick. The ore body strikes NW and dips steeply NE. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 4 adit levels, respectively 60, 100, 250 and 300 feet long, in 1914.
Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957).
Some specimen ore was produced from pockets. In 1924, 50 tons of ore yielded 47.76 ounces of Au and 1 ounce of Ag. A small tonnage mined in 1937-1939 yielded 5 ounces of Au.
