A former lode Au mine located in sec. 4, T5S, R18E, MDM (UTM estimated; sec. lines projected), 4.1 km (2.6 miles) NE of Mount Bullion, along Mariposa Creek. Operated during the period 1908-1912. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. A former Las Mariposas grant mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a NW-trending vein system hosted in greenstone. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings.
Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957).
Active during the period 1908-1912, producing 109 tons of ore which yielded $2,177.34, or an average of $19.96 per ton (period values).
