A Au occurrence/claim/prospect located 5.0 km (3.1 miles) NW of Whitlock, along Sherlock Creek at its confluence with Drunken Gulch (6 miles E of Bagby), on Bureau of Land Management wilderness land (Merced River Wilderness Study Area). Property consisted of 1 unpatented claim of 20 acres. Owned by George Martin. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 300 foot tunnel, giving 200 feet of backs, and a shaft 40 feet deep.
The ore was said to run from $10 to $30 per ton (period values). There were about 100 tons of ore on the dump in 1927. Claim was for sale.
