A former Cu occurrence/mine located in sec. 18, T45N, R16E, MDM, 8.6 km (5.4 miles) NE of Buck Mountain and 11.5 km (7.2 miles) SSW of Fort Bidwell, N of Vaughn Canyon, on the eastern margin of the Warner Mountains. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
USGS MRDS file note: Eric shows that this mine is in sec. 18 & 19, T45N, R15E; however, descriptive location and reference to Fort Bidwell quadrangle in Tucker indicates that it may be in E16E. A tunnel symbol is shown on quadrangle in the SW¼SW¼ sec. 18, T45N, R16E.
Mineralization is a vein deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 85; USGS model code: 22c; Deposit model name: Polymetallic veins; Mark3 model number: 46), hosted in Pliocene andesite. The ore body is a series of narrow veinws 2 to 8 inches (5 to 20 cm) wide, that strike N65E and dip 60SE at a width of 0.2 meter. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 17 (Cascade Range).
Local geologic structures include the Warner Mountains.
Related tectonic structures include the Basin and Range province.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 336 foot long tunnel and a 90 foot shaft plus a large number of shallow open cuts made on the veins.
Production information: Some high-grade ore was shipped from this property.
