A former lode Au-Pb occurrence/mine located in secs. 1 & 2, T15N, R8E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) NNE of La Barr Meadows and about 2 miles SSE of Grass Valley, on private (patented) land. The property comprises 30 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in diabase and granodiorite. The ore body strikes N and dips 45E at a thickness of 1.22 meters. There are 2 veins at 1 to 4 feet thick. The Alaska vein is hosted in granodiorite and is 700 feet W of the Ben Franklin vein, which follows a granodiorite-diabase contact. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 152.4 meters and comprised of tunnels, shafts and stopes.
