A reported placer Au occurrence located in the SE¼ sec. 21, T16N, R8E, MDM, about 2.2 km WNW of Grass Valley proper at Alta Hill, just NW of the St. Patrick Cemetery. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Approximately 100 feet W and 1,300 feet N of the SE¼ of the section.
Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a shaft (probably an old hydraulic working)
