A former lode Au-Ag-Cu-Pb occurrence/mine located in the E½E½ sec. 13 & in sec. 24, T17N, R10E, MDM, 1.2 km (0.8 mile) NW of Alpha (site) and 2.5 km (1.5 miles) S of Washington, on the E canyon wall of Washington Creek (1.5 miles N of Stillman Flat), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Calaveras Complex (Tightner Formation slate & porphyry). The ore body strikes N60W and dips 50NE at a thickness of 2.13 meters, in the Tightner Formation near the junction of 2 faults. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 944.88 meters and an overall depth of 137.16 meters and comprised of 3 adits, 2,500 long (collectively ??), 600 feet of crosscuts and raises.
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1941).
Production statistics: Year: 1940 (accurate): 7 grams Au/metric ton.
No other production record was found.
Analytical data results: Assays ranged from $1.05 to $39.55 (period values) Au/ton on the Jumbo vein and $0.87 to $21.35 (period values) Au/ton on the Giant King vein.
