A former placer & lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 12, T16N, R8E, MDM, about 1.6 km W of Nevada City proper, along Deer Creek, just downstream of the sewerage treatment plant. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
