A former lode Au-Pb occurrence/mine located in the EΒ½ (estimated) sec. 35 & sec. 36, T12N, R7E, MDM, 1.2 km (0.7 mile) ESE of Penryn, W of Interstate highway 80. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Adjoins the Chicago Mine.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N7E and dips 90 at a thickness of 0.51 meter. The vein is 12 to 20 inches (30 to 50 cm) thick and carries 1 to 2% pyrite and galena. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include underground openings with a length of 115.82 meters and an overall depth of 36.58 meters and comprised of a shaft and drifts.

The estimated yield was $15 (period values) Au/ton (in the 1860's).
