A magnesite mine/plant located in the NW¼NE¼NW¼ sec. 21, T3S, R2E, SBM, along Esperanza Avenue, just S of Cabazon line. Discovered in 1960. First production occurred in 1976. Operated by L. S Hauley Corporation and Paul Hubbo Construction Company, California (1980). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a magnesite deposit. The ore body strikes N21W and dips 30W. It is tabular, sedimentary. The primary mode of origin was sedimentation. The primary ore control was bedding and the secondary control was lithology. Wallrock alteration is slight (intermediate argillic). Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.

Workings include surface openings (quarry) with an overburden of sand & gravel 5 meters thick.

Now appears to have shifted from magnesite production to production of cement and crushed rock (S. Hardinger, personal observation; 30 May 2019).
