A reported placer Au occurrence located in the center sec. 12, T11N, R14E, SBM, about 5.8 km SE of Columbia Mountain (summit), in Wild Horse Canyon at its northern mouth, along the western side of Wild Horse Road, on federal reservation land (Mojave National Preserve/East Mojave National Scenic Area). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 16 (Northern Mojave Desert).
