An Al-Mn-silica-P(phosphates)-Fe occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ sec. 6, T3N, R25E, SBM, 10.5 km (6.6 miles) W of Havasu Palms, on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Discovered in 1941 and first produced in 1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Located on the N flank of the Whipple Mountains, 41 road miles S of Needles.

Corrected coordinates: N34.38311 W114.39399; taken at remains of mining activities by Richard Muster in the year 2010 using an Ashtech MM6 device.

Mineralization is hosted in Pliocene alluvium. The ore body strikes N12W and dips 65W at a thickness of 3 meters, width of 20 meters, length of 35 metgers and adepth-to-top of 2 meters. Ore body No. 1 is tabular in a shear zone. Ore body No. 2 is irregular in form and a fissure vein. The primary mode of origin was hydrothermal activity. The secondary mode of origin was oxidation. Primary ore control was faulting and the secondary control was fracturing. Wallrock alteration is slight (bleaching & propylitic). The ore is very siliceous. Fissure zones in fanglomerate are impregnated with manganese oxide. The main fissure has a smooth footwall, gradational hanging wall, and strikes N10-15W, and dips 65-70W. Wall rock is poorly sorted sedimentary breccia, with fragments of granitic and metamorphic rocks, sandstone, and a few volcanic rocks. Zones adjacent to the fissures are cemented, impregnated and partly replaced by manganese oxides. The ore is mainly a soft, black, crystalline mineral, probably pyrolusite, and some hard psilomelane. Brown calcite may be the primary ore. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 16 (Northern Mojave Desert) and/or Precambrian igneous and metamorphic rock complex.

Workings include surface and underground openings.

Additional workings comprised of an incline that cuts secondary mineralization of hematite and some calcite are located approximately 450 meters SSW up the canyon (1/251976).
