A B(borate) prospect located in sec. 5, T11N, R4E, SBM, 5.0 km (3.1 miles) SE of Alvord Peak (coordinates of record), along the SE margin of the mountain. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Field work by the U.S. Bureau of Mines in 1993 did not conclusively identify this location. According to Mr. Ken Shulte (BLM, Barstow), this is likely part of the Toomey claims, which were drilled in 1983 by U.S. Borax. The exploration program did not encounter a boron deposit, but intersected sedimentary rocks of the Barstow Formation, that commonly contains the boron minerals.
Mineralization is hosted in lake sediments. Local rocks include Miocene nonmarine rocks and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include unspecified surface openings (may include drill holes).
