A former Au mine located in sec. 3, T32N, R7W, MDM (coordinates estimated; section projected), 7.7 km (4.8 miles) WSW of Merry Mountain (coordinates of record), in the headwaters area of Bear Gulch, on National Park Service land (Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area). Located 1885. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in andesite and slate. The ore body strikes N20W and dips 50-70E at a thickness of 6.1 meters. Ore control was a fissure. Two parallel veins lie along a contact between slate. The El Dorado vein is gold-bearing and lies at a contact of the Bragdon Formation (siltstone & shale) and the Copley & Balaklala Formations (greenstone & rhyolite). Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 5 (Klamath Mountains) and/or Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 1 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings and are comprised of a 450 foot adit, a 50 foot winze, a 30 foot drift, a 30 foot raise and a stope to top of raise 50 feet. The ore shoot is 240 x 3 feet.
